Port Elizabeth - The Friendly City
Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage and Despatch, previously three separate municipalities, now all form part of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality.
Port Elizabeth could've been called the City of Love. The city was named after Elizabeth Donkin by her grieving husband Sir Rufane Donkin, and the municipality is named after a beloved former leader, Nelson Mandela. The area is known affectionately as Madiba Bay. It all fits in so beautifully with the concept of this being the friendly city.
Port Elizabeth is South Africa's fourth largest city and is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the country.
